Tuesday Filming: Car Dealerships and B-Roll

the filming on Tuesday 10th October was, again, really successful. Our plan for the day was to get some B-Roll of the electric cars we had spotted and enquired about in the car dealerships in Park Wood, Maidstone.

Thankfully, both the Mercedes Benz/ Smart and the Nissan dealership were happy to let us film in their buildings. I was, again, given the camera fixed onto the fig-rig which meant I was able to get some nice moving shots of the electric car profile. A constant problem I found while filming the car, however, was the fact that I was brand new and shiny, meaning that I could easily be seen in the reflection with the camera. There are indeed some shots that were taken where you can just see the fig-rig but I tried to keep it as hidden as possible while still trying to get the shots that I needed.

Again, there was the problem of re-doing a lot of the shots. I took certain shots and then the others decided that they would go and get the exact same shots about two more times. This started to get a little irritating seeing as it took us an hour to film something that would have only taken us half an hour at most.

Fortunately we did move on to getting some B-Roll of cars driving past on the side of one of the dual carriageways dealing into Maidstone. We also got some shots from outside the Tesla building just down the road from the Maidstone Studios. these shots mostly just featured the Tesla sign and various shots the charging stations near the car park.

Another long B-Roll shot we go was from the window of the 'Costa' cafe the 'Next' shop near Maidstone. This was all fine but we spent about twenty minutes there, taking much more time than was necessary.

Despite these issues, the filming was largely a success and we got plenty of footage.
