Today we managed to film our live interview with Ajay, the electric car enthusiast.
It took us about an hour and a half on the motorway to get to Ajay's house but he was very accommodating when we got there. We decided to get straight to the filming which was decided would take place outside in Ajay's front garden. there was a set of table and chairs already propped up in the corner of the garden with a wooden fence and some plants behind it so we thought this would be a nice backdrop for the interview. Ajay also put out a wine bottle and two glasses onto the table to add to the scenery.
There was a lot of time taken up by the preparation of the interview as we wanted to make sure that the cameras were positioned in the best places. I was placed in charge of recording with one of the cameras as well as making sure it stayed at a good angle.
We then spent more time doing test runs of Alex asking Ajay the questions. I did start to get a little worried that Ajay would start to get a little impatient with us as we were taking a long time before we actually started filming the actual interview put thankfully he was fine throughout.
We did one full run-through which was mostly a success. Alex's performance as the presenter was great and felt natural. However, we felt that Ajay's answers were too long and we would find it quite hard to fit all the answers into the time-gap and edit around it. Therefore, we ran through the entire interview again, asking Ajay to give us some shorter answers while Alex gave some subtle prompts that he was going to swiftly move on to the next question.
This proved to be successful as the interview was roughly two minutes shorter than the first take at around four and a half minutes. We will just need to edit around the footage to make sure that it fits within the time-gap we have for our news report.
We also managed to get some footage of his own electric car which we can cut to during the interview, helping us to edit around it.
Overall, I think that today was a great success as we got everything that we had originally intended and we have some footage from a good source.
